The Cornwall Regional Hospital (CRH) is located two miles from the center of Montego Bay, on a hill in Mt. Salem. It is a 10 story, 400-bed capacity multidisciplinary institution. The Cornwall Regional Hospital is a Type 'A' hospital providing specialist services, and is the only hospital outside of Kingston providing most of the specialist services.
The Cornwall Regional Hospital was the first multidisciplinary hospital constructed in Jamaica since the building of the University Hospital 21 years before. It was built to meet the total health needs of the County of Cornwall (see a map of Jamaica for county boundaries), hence the name Cornwall Regional Hospital. It is the main hospital of four in the Western Regional Health Authority, the other three being Noel Holmes Public General in Lucea, Hanover, Falmouth Public General in Falmouth, Trelawny, and the Savanna-la-mar Public General in Savanna-la-mar, Westmoreland.
